Ephesians 3:12-13/Hebrews 4:16

  1. What does it mean to approach God with confidence and freedom?

Sue: this is a video on Youtube called “Understanding the Day of Atonement or Yom Kippur” I would like to show this. It is a little over 9 minutes.

Define words:

  1. Freedom/boldness
  • Frankness
    • Assurance or freedom to do so
  • Cheerful courage

Thayer Greek Lexicon: that friendly relation to God where we are acceptable to him and have assurance that he is favorably disposed toward us.

  1. Confidence (per. part.)
  • A past process of being completely persuaded, with the present result that we are in a confirmed and settled state of utter confidence
    • To trust completely
      • His love
      • His relationship
      • His power
      • His promises
      • His hearing of our prayers and answering them
      • His grace and mercy
      • His promise of eternal life

Conclusion

  •  Because of Jesus, we can approach the throne of God
  •  We can do it with confidence
  •  And we have freedom to share our hearts and lives with him
  •  Knowing that he hears us and cares about our every need
