Peace through the Cross

Ephesians 2:14-18

We now have access to the Father, by one Spirit, through the Cross.

Q. What is the cry of our country and world right now?

  • Please bring us peace, calm, and normality

When we walk away from God, our faith, our walk with him, and yes, the church itself we will find that we are going to be under the burden of lawlessness and division.

Q. What is it that unites our lives?

It is God’s peace!

  • A world that is focused upon God will be one that is driven by good and will care about its fellowman

  • A society that is driven by looking out for its citizens will be one that will care for those who are less fortunate

  • A family that seeks the well-being of its members and puts each person above itself will experience God’s love

  • And a church that is driven to reach out to its members in an honest, purpose-driven, motivated by the Holy Spirit, heart of servanthood will change its community

Unity will be the force for reconciliation.

  • Because of Christ, and his work of reconciling us all back to God, we can in turn bring a peace that will unite our differences

The cross brought:

  • Peace

  • It destroyed barriers between people groups

  • It did away with the condemnation brought on us

  • It solidified the body of Christ (created the church)

    • Oneness is at its core

    • Peace is its effect

    • Love is its purpose

  • It brought us near to God

    • We were way out there

    • Far from God

Note: vs. 18

It is through Christ we have access:

  • To be admitted

  • Accepted by God

    • The assurance that he loves us

Take away

  1. Jesus took care of our sins problem

  • He broke down the wall between us and God

  1. The church is to be a place of peace and unity

  • It is here we experience the effects of being reconciled

  1. The Holy Spirit guarantees our access to God

  • He is the One who keeps us in God’s presence
