February 20, 2022
Work of Art
Ephesians 2:10
1st The work of grace/salvation will result in real life changes.
Note: 2 Cor. 5:17 NIV
Salvation does something to us.
-
We become God’s workmanship
-
Romans 1:20 NIV
-
Something that is written or composed
-
It meant a work of art that expresses the maker’s wisdom and design
-
A masterpiece
-
Sue, please show pictures of masterpieces…
-
Mona Lisa (Leonardo da Vinci)
-
Last Supper (Leonardo)
-
Pieta (Michelangelo)
We are God’s workmanship.
2nd God’s greatest work of Art is the body of Christ.
-
2 Cor. 3:2-3 NIV
The work of grace/salvation displays God’s love to the world.
He created us:
-
To fabricate
-
To form a shape
-
To create something that did not exist before
-
Colossians 3:10 NIV
-
Salvation became the greatest act of rebirth.
-
Our salvation is the greatest miracle God has every performed
-
His artistry is truly an act of workmanship
3rd The work of salvation placed us in Christ.
-
The works that we do are the result of us being in Christ
-
Our relationship with Jesus results in us serving him
-
Romans 12:1 NLT
-
My heart will love him
-
Acts of love
-
-
My mind will be led by him
-
Acts of submission
-
-
My will lines up with his
-
Acts of choosing to follow him
-
-
-
These works are the result of my salvation experience.
-
They have nothing to do with me working to be saved
-
They are the result of my salvation
Note: God prepared them in advance
-
Before creation
-
He is the one who gives us the ability to serve
-
Our gifts come from him
-
They are given to us when we receive the Holy Spirit
-
These gifts are the effects of God’s saving grace
Our salvation and our works are the doing of God.
-
We had nothing to do with it
God knew how he would gift you to serve him.
Note: 1 Cor. 12:7 TLB
Take a way:
-
Salvation brings us into a position with Christ
-
The Holy Spirit is deposited into our lives
-
We are gifted to serve the body of Christ
-
This is all done by God, not by me
